UTILITIES
A growing collection of time-saving tips, scripts, and workflows I’ve designed to streamline post-production tasks. More coming soon.
Replace MP4 Audio with WAV (macOS Quick Action)
What It Does
This macOS Quick Action lets you select a .wav
and a .mp4
file in Finder, then either right-click or use a custom keyboard shortcut to generate a new video with the .wav
replacing the original .mp4
audio. The video is not re-encoded, and the new file is saved in the same folder as the .wav
. Perfect for instantly updating video files with audio mixes for client review.
How It Works
The workflow uses FFmpeg, an open-source media tool, installed via Homebrew in the background and is built in macOS Automator. Setup time is 10-15 minutes.
Create Avid Proxy (macOS Quick Action)
What It Does
With a single right-click, it converts .mp4, .mov, .mxf, or .m4v files into Pro Tools-friendly Avid codecs - DNxHD or DNxHR - depending on resolution. ➡️ All converted files are saved in the same folder as the original, with an updated filename like _DNxHD_36.mov or _DNxHR_LB.mov.
You will get a desktop notification when the process is complete.
⚠️ This is designed for Apple Silicon Macs (M1, M2, M3, M4) only
How It Works
The workflow uses FFmpeg, an open-source media tool, installed via Homebrew in the background and is built in macOS Automator. Setup time is 10-15 minutes.
